Coca-Cola tends to market itself as a source of happiness. Now it’s attempting to break barriers between India and Pakistan, replacing barriers with a human connection.

Today seems to be Pakistan day. There were so many items on my dash about Pakistan today. Courtesy of this ad, I learned that there was an actual barbed wire no-go zone between the two countries. I had no idea that conditions were that hostile. I only had vague ideas about this region way over on the other side of the world suffering from arbitrary borders set by colonialists. But this Coca-Cola ad was just so affecting, a person could get a little sniffly.
Coincidentally, only a few weeks ago I was referencing the original “I’d like to teach the world to sing” Coke ad, the genesis of this kind of happiness and idealism.
Odd how these things are … things I haven’t thought about in a long time are appearing in clusters.
